I’ve never been *good* at relaxing. Sure, I love my down time at night after work. But, when it comes to having an entire weekend with no plans – I can honestly say I don’t think that’s happened in maaaaybe a year. So, yeah. I like to plan, I keep my calendar pretty booked, and (even on breaks) I hardly ever just veg out for days at a time.
So, this past weekend was a little different. I had zero plans. Absolutely none. Not a dinner reservation, not a coffee meet up, not a weekend getaway, a drive to see family, n o t h I n g. At first, I didn’t really totally love the idea. I was sorta like “Eh, this is a bit of a waste. I should probably find someone to see or something we’ve been wanting to do.” However, I’m really really glad I didn’t give in to that feeling. It gave us the opportunity to be a teeny bit spontaneous, like trying a new restaurant for lunch. We walked around, enjoyed the neighborhood we live in. I mean, all around, it was just a good weekend, you know?
I watched a lot of HGTV. It was awesome. Jake also tackled making Carmine’s meatballs from scratch from our Carmine’s cookbook, which were obviously delicious. I got my car washed. I went grocery shopping (very very necessary after being gone visiting my parents for the holidays)…I mean, all super mundane things, but it felt so nice to have the time. SO, maybe I messed up and got a little productive. But, not really!! I didn’t have a set *plan* and this alone is huge.
Sweatshirt is American Eagle – it’s one of the softest things I have ever worn. It was the perfect weekend sweatshirt, for sure. Socks are Gap – they are from the “Cozy Socks” line and went perfectly with my Bean Boots when we walked to lunch. Mug is Rifle Paper Co. – a gift from my coworkers and, honestly, 100% me!
For the Home Stuff: Couch is from the Pottery Barn Apartment collection, and one of my favorite things we have. I got the blanket for my birthday this year – it’s L.L. Bean and I use it everyday! So cozy! Pillows were a Pier 1 find – I just really really love pink and pom poms!
So the overall conclusion on this whole *no plans on the weekend* thing? Well, I need to do it more often. For sure!!
Are you a planner like me? What do you like to do in your down time?
