It’s no secret that I miss the hustle and bustle of NYC pretttttty much on a daily basis. I have so much Connecticut pride, and truly love being here, but I am looking forward to getting that NYC apartment I’ve been dreaming of since graduating NYU. However, with graduate school and saving money, moving home first made a lot of sense. Plus, I know that I will probably never being living at home again, and I’m sincerely grateful for all the time I get to spend with my awesome family. HOWEVER this past weekend, I really wanted (needed?!) to do something a little different, and decided to spend the day walking around Northampton, Massachusetts. And I’m SO GLAD I DID.
Sometimes, just getting out even just a bit can help put things in perspective and make me feel motivated all over again. We had lunch at this awesome Thai place called the Thai Garden (who catered to my shellfish allergy so I could have red curry – seriously the best!) and spent a lot of time just walking around and enjoying the local shops and people. I find Northampton to be such a nice getaway and I feel like it has, for lack of a better phrase: A cool vibe. It feels artistic and progressive, and completely refreshing. I didn’t do much other than eat and walk, but it was the pick up I needed to get myself through this next week of final projects.
I may not have blended with the fashion of Northampton, but I loved wearing this J. Crew 1984 striped rugby . FYI: I’m seriously loving the 80’s theme that J. Crew has going on. I’m actually wearing a large, because I love my rugby shirts to have a looser fit. I definitely referenced wanting to buy this shirt in this post, so I guess you guys know now that I totally caved! I paired it with J. Crew skinny jeans that I bought for literally 40 bucks in Charlotte last weekend. I already love them, they are such a great fit, and so worth it for the price. Honestly, I don’t feel there’s that much of a difference between the more expensive jeans I have bought over the years. Plus, the lighter wash is perfect for the summer months ahead. (Am I the only one who wears jeans all year round?!) I also knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking, so I added my pink and white adidas to the look – I bought these last season, but I found a very similar pair here at DSW. For those asking about my glasses, you can find more info, here.
Jake’s shirt found here (J. Crew Factory, Wrinkle free. Plus, who doesn’t like Gingham?!)
We ended the mini trip with coffee at Haymarket Cafe and laughs, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day. 🙂
