If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am basically a continuous window shopper. I scour the internet looking for my favorite things, most of which I cannot buy at the moment. Although I, obviously, spend most of my time looking for clothes to wear myself – I often find myself checking out the mens sections to see what Jake might like too. Menswear can be a whole different ball game, there’s always that balance between stylish and comfortable – at least for the guys in my life! Right now, I have quite a few items I’m currently eyeing…
Jake is wearing: This L.L. Bean Field Coat that I got him for Valentine’s Day, L.L. Bean Gore-tex Bean Boots, L.L. Bean Flannel (Color no longer sold but very similar to this in “Apple Cinnamon”!) Brown corduroy’s are old J.Crew, but these L.L.Bean ones in “otter brown” are super similar. He’s wearing his signature Ray-Ban glasses. 😉
Jake wears this L.L. Bean pullover, like, everyday. Fall, Winter, Summer, Spring – you name it. My Mom bought him this one for Christmas and then it accidentally shrunk (Don’t put it in the dryer….!) So, this past Christmas, she got him a new one and it’s the same old – he loves it! It’s comfortable and looks great on him. He’s partial to the grey heather, but I also like the navy and charcoal. I’m all about those neutrals! I actually have the color block version of this in women’s from a few seasons ago, and I still wear it all the time. They are great quality and, as always with L.L. Bean, they last.
I am loving these Men’s Chelsea Rain Boots by Hunter. In my last post, I featured my J.Crew Chelsea Rain boots – I just find it to be a much more comfortable way to walk in the rain. Sure, walking around New York City or working on a farm (…I have never worked on a farm….) you might need their taller rain boots. But, going to work, I find it to be much more comfortable to have a lower Chelsea boot. Your feet don’t get nearly as hot and it’s easy to wear with a day to day outfit. I’m loving the black with the brown sole of this boot. Plus, you know it’s a great rain boot because it has the Hunter name – I love the tall Hunter rain boots, and have little doubt that these would be any less great!
This long sleeve rugby shirt by J.Crew is perfect to wear with a vest this spring or summer days on a windy beach. I always love a good stripe, and it’s made with J.Crew’s heavier, durable cotton. Jake always prefers a quality shirt (don’t we all?) and I think this would be the perfect addition, as it would definitely be both comfortable and wearable year round. I also love when men’s shirts are longer in the back than in the front. I find that women’s wear does this often, but it’s just as flattering for guys!
I definitely have a thing for blue and white – but this cotton KJP anchor sweater has been an item I’ve been eyeing for at least a year. This sweater is 100% cotton and looks so cozy. It’s definitely a unisex item, and is perfect for summer nights by the fire. It’s nautical look has had my attention for a while, and KJP has it all when it comes to that New England image. This piece is a particular favorite of mine, and is certainly on the “wish list.”
Jake recently purchased these Clarks Desert Boots in beeswax and they are most definitely a new favorite. He isn’t quite as *into* shoes as I am, but I think these take the win for him. They look great, even with a pair of jeans, and really dress up an outfit. I think the beeswax looks great, and any scratches look natural and “well worn” – in a good way. These are the type of boots that look even better with wear, and I think they are going to be in his wardrobe for quite a while.
I kinda love a long sleeve polo – it screams preppy, and I am liiiiving for this vintage indigo color by L.L. Bean. I know I already said it – but nothing really beats the quality of L.L. Bean. As a former employee, I know first hand how they strive for quality products and comfortable clothing. I’ve purchased men’s clothing in a small from L.L. Bean because I just love the feel of their rugby shirts – they really do it best!
If you have an Apple Watch, you have to check out these leather bands on Etsy by O2Designco – I bought Jake a leather band a couple years ago, and the quality is so good. The band above is the exact band he bought me for Valentine’s Day this year – super gender neutral, and extremely well crafted. I think it really ups the outfit game and looks extremely professional – it’s perfect for work and when you’re wearing your Apple Watch on a day to day basis. They ship really quickly and look great on everyones wrist! I have already had people tell me they think it looks better than the Apple leather bands – and those are way pricier for sure.
I stand by what I said this past Christmas that this is one of the best J.Crew sweaters either of us has ever owned. It’s really high quality and really flattering – guy or girl! This particular one is unisex, and I bought a large for Jake. I find it’s better as a roomier sweater. I own this in both pink and cream and couldn’t be happier with how well it has held up the past year – I find myself reaching for one of them every week!
I honestly just love a crisp, flat, white sneaker on a guy. Pair it was some khaki shorts and you have a look. I particularly love the yellow stripe on these Sperry nautical sneaks. We’ve both found Sperry to be comfortable and reliable – and this pair is rated well on their site! I always love giving sneakers a bit of a refresh when it comes to my own closet, and these would be the perfect pair for Jake for the upcoming warmer months.
I love a good monogram on leather….! This Harvey Briefcase by Mark and Graham is simply stunning. The pebbled leather has a masculine look – I just love that they paired it with a canvas strap for comforts sake. It’s the perfect office bag, especially if you commute. The inside is roomy and lined with canvas – this would be the perfect gift for any guy who travels or needs to carry a lot back and forth to the office. Plus, the personalization of the monogram makes it an especially thoughtful gift!
Gingham is always my favorite summer look. I would wear gingham most days if I could! I think it’s versatile and looks great on everyone – the J.Crew button down in gingham is an absolute classic and a staple for any guy’s closet. These look great with khaki’s or denim, and are comfortable. It’s always good to have a few of these to grab in your closet for dinner dates or work days…!
